It has water absorption and is easy to absorb water when exposed to the air to form sodium sulfate decahydrate, also known as mirabilite. Using this property, sodium sulfate can be used as desiccant. But sodium persulfate has no water absorption. Therefore, in some special uses, using the characteristics of the two, the combination of the two can achieve different results.

過(guò)硫酸鈉也是過(guò)硫酸鹽的一種，又稱過(guò)氧二硫酸鈉。過(guò)硫酸鈉溶于水產(chǎn)生的過(guò)硫酸根離子是一種穩(wěn)定的強(qiáng)氧化劑，過(guò)硫酸鹽產(chǎn)生自由基的反應(yīng)對(duì)于去除石油類污染物具有很大的意義。也因?yàn)樗难趸阅埽^(guò)硫酸鈉的用途很廣：在農(nóng)業(yè)中讓受污染的土壤修復(fù)、環(huán)境處理中用來(lái)進(jìn)行水處理（廢水凈化）、廢氣處理、有害物質(zhì)氧化降解；工業(yè)上作為乳膠或丙烯酸單體聚合液、醋酸乙烯、氯乙烯等產(chǎn)品的引發(fā)劑，它還可以作為脫漿劑和漂白劑，染發(fā)劑等等。
